This January see UPLIFT take over the gallery at Barnsley’s The Civic for two weeks. Uplift is a programme of unique and memorable events in unusual, inspiring locations, designed by artists for you. It is part of the Creative Recovery group as uses art, music and performance to aid recovery from illness, help those with disabilites and their carers, those in recovery from addiction and those with mental health problems.
The two week UPLIFT Take Over will run from Wed 9th Jan to Thu 24th Jan and there is a very extensive event program to go with this, featuring live music, comedy, art, philosophy, oral history and games. All of the events are free and open to anybody but On Take-over days Uplift’s artists in residence will be happy to share their work with you. Visit and watch the exhibition grow throughout the two weeks.
