ARTS NEWS: REDBROOK ARTIST STUDIOS AND EXHIBITION SPACE

Fiona Halliday is a Barnsley fine artist and member of the collective Northern Young Artists. After struggling to find a local affordable studio space decided to create her own. Northern Young Artists worked in partnership with Leeds based contemporary art organisation East Street Arts to create a new exhibition/project space could be adapted for different uses including larger visual project work or a rehearsal space for performance work, within a long since dissused unit in Redbrook Business Park.

Fiona explains that ‘at Redbrook we aim to provide local artists with affordable studio spaces and a large exhibition/project space. There are around six private studio spaces ready to be used and will be rented at affordable rates, in negotiation with Northern Young Artists & East Street Arts. The private studio spaces would be suitable for artists working in a range of media, they range in size from approximately 10 – 16 m2 and the exhibition space is approximately 370 m2.’

Northern Young Artists are developing an exciting exhibition programme and are looking to showcase a range of contemporary work from emerging artists in the area, with the launch exhibition taking place this coming Spring.

For more information or to arrange to view the spaces please don’t hesitate to get in touch by emailling northernyoungartists@hotmail.co.uk
Please note, unfortunately there is no disabled access to the building currently.
