MUSIC NEWS: THE ELECTRIC THEATRE LAUNCHES NEW CONCERT SERIES

Barnsley College’s Electric Theatre has launched a new concert series called The Atlantic Sessions which will take place in October which will promote the best of both local and international talent. The week long showcase of music will rung from Saturday 12th October until Saturday 19th October.

The Atlantic Sessions will incorporate a variety of different musical styles each night ranging from Rock, Blues, Country, Folk, Canadian music and ‘science-fiction space-core’.

Saturday 12th October, John Verity opens the concert series, with one of his expressive rock live performances, John fronted the UK rock band outfit Argent.
Monday 14th October sees Barnsley’s Own take to the stage, including local artists Steph Shaw, Laura Kelly and Adam Howarth plus special guest. An evening full of acoustic promise and vocal pleasure to be had with these artists.
Tuesday 15th October, The Tempertons play a super-tight funk groove taking inspiration from the 70s and 80s with an impressive 9 piece stage band, Real horns grooves and artistic flair to he heard on this night.
Wednesday 16th October, BBC Radio 2 ‘Best Duo award Nominees 2013’ Gilmore Roberts take to the stage. Local musician Jamie Roberts from Dodworth performs their trademark lap-tapping guitar, fiery fiddle and trademark harmonies.
Thursday 17th October, Chantel McGregor, nominated Female vocalist of the year and guitarist of the year by two British Blues awards takes to the stage.
Friday 18th October, the best of Canadian music comes to Barnsley, The ABC of Canadian Music sees a fusion of three individual artists, Awna Teixeira, Brandy Zdan and Cara Luft performing individual sets and combining for a unique ensemble performance. This will truly stretch the boundaries of folk and root music.
Saturday 19th October, local band ‘Skinboat’ present a one-off live rock theatre production, sure to be an evening of drama, combining uplifting cheeky songs, energetic performance and musical story telling.
