NEWS: THE CIVIC ROLLS OUT EDUCATION PROGRAMME FOR 2014

educationJanuary 2014 see Barnsley’s The Civic roll out a new education programme, which encourages children and young people from nursery age, schools and colleges through to University level, to get involved in as many events, talks, workshops and demonstrations as possible. They claim, ‘at The Civic we believe the arts are for everyone, like our venue… We want every member of the community to come and join in – education isn’t just for those in school!’

Throughout the forthcoming season, The Civic will be holding artist-led talks, practical workshops and Q&As suitable for anyone with an interest in theatre, dance, music, art and design.
‘We’ve got a dedicated schools programme (highlighted by red stars in the Jan-Apr brochure) which encompasses different levels of learning alongside qualified arts educators who focus on National Curriculum achievements.

The Civic is a signed up supporter of the Arts Award scheme, which means all of their programmed events are good for Discovery and Explorer levels. They will be expanding to cover Bronze, Silver and Gold very soon!
