Saturday 22nd February saw two musical events take place in Barnsley, raising funds for local charities and organisations. First up was Barnsley Rocks at Dodworth WMC. Orgnaised by Invisible Grease’s Craig Thawley, sets from local acts Flaw 13, Taxi For Bob, Under The Influence, Jake Sharpe, Nowhere Near London, The Tearts, Invisible Grease, Stellavision and Loaded, along with the good charitable of the punters, saw the event raise £1336 for the British Legion. Craig says, ‘it’s great news and some more good news is we’re already in talks for the next one – possibly at some point over the summer. We’re looking at pissibly having two stages and are currently deciding which charity we think be raising oney for this time round.
A very special mention goes out to Courtney McKinney, who at sixteen years old, organised a whole day of music at Stereo on Peel Street and put on live sets by Razor Tones, Amy Condrey, Lee Bailey, Flaw 13, Clean Cut and Everyone An Army. Courtney and her day of live music raised an incredible £200 for Barnsley Hospice. Courtney organised the concert as a tribute to her Grandma Pauline McKinney who passed away six years ago.
