The Easter holidays are nearly upon us, which often means lots of chocolate and lots of bored children. Fret not. Barnsley’s has a wealth of arts and creative workshops on offer for children of all ages. Here’s a run down:
THE ART STATION (the old HMV unit), Cheapside, Barnsley
SAT 12th – THU 17th APR
Enter the pop-up art station in the town centre and join the creative workforce in making large willow ‘Tour de France’ sculptures that will animate the town centre during the Cultural festival before finding a permanent home on the Trans Pennine Trail.
Fun and accessible for all ages and abilities.
Sessions: 11am – 1pm and 2pm – 4pm

SAY IT YOUR WAY FAMILY ART WORKSHOPS @ EXPERIENCE BARNSLEY
Prior to the opening of the Women Against Pit Closures exhibition, the museum’s youth panel took part in some strike banner making workshops.
Between 13th and 27th April, the museum will be holding a series of ‘Say It Your Way’ creative family workshops, including making your own protest badge or strike banner inspired by the exhibtion.
Drop into family activities between 11am and 2pm.

Easter Bunny’s Treasure Hunt

Easter bunny has lost the code to his precious Treasure Basket. Your mission should you choose to accept it is to work out the code to the Treasure Basket and claim your prize. Children must be accompanied by an adult. £3 per child.MILLING DEMONSTRATION

The water powered Old Mill is still able to grind wheat in the traditional way. Members of the public can see the milling process, actual grinding of the grain, within the mill’s 17th and 19th century buildings. The white and wholemeal flours are traditionally stone-ground on a pair of 19th Century ”French Burr” stones, powered by a cast iron water wheel installed in 1865. Free Admission.
MAKE A BIRD FEEDER
WED 23rd APRIL, 1pm
Join the rangers to make some bird feeder. Aimed at children from 4-11years.
