NEWS: CREATIVE RECOVERY ANNOUNCED AS NEW MAYOR’S CHARITY

Last week saw Barnsley council appoint its new mayor. Cllr Tim Shepherd will take on the role of mayor of Barnsley for the next 12 months, taking over from Cllr Ken Richardson.
Although we won’t specifically be talking about the selection of the mayor on this site (we’re an arts site), I did want to mention that the two charities chosen by Cllr Shepherd to benefit from his work over the next year will be White Knight Emergency Vehicle Service, and more specific to this site, Creative Recovery.

I think it is great to see the mayor supporting not only the arts in this way, but also in recognising the need to place some focus on mental health issues in our town.
I have close ties with Creative Recovery – I have been on its committee and often work with them in my job at the Experience Barnsley museum – so this pleases my greatly.
I can also say that in September, I will be holding a benefit concert for Creative Recovery at The Polish Club on Sunday 7th September. I’ll be announcing more details regarding the line-up over the next month.

To find out more about Creative Recovery and its various projects, UpLift, ReSound, Live Arts Café etc, follow their facebook page www.facebook.com/pages/Creative-Recovery/356588951018801
Creative Recovery will appear alongside Myor Tim Shepherd at the Mayor’s Parade on Saturday 14th June, in Barnsley town centre from 11am.
