COALFIELDS IS COMING… THE NOIZE ASSAULT STAGE

The annual Coalfield’s festival is getting closer by the day, and despite competition from festivals in Sheffield, Wombwell and Cannon Hall, Coalfields has a hell of a lot to offer this years. This year the festival takes place on Saturday 26th July, at Darton Cricket Fields and is spread over five stage, with each one being managed by a different promoter. In the first in our series of in depth looks at Coalfields, here we check out who is playing The Noize Assault Stage.

Noize Assault is run by Hannah Eatwell. She is known for previously booking metal and alternative rock gigs for The Polish Club and most recently The Courthouse. For the second year running, she is managing the ‘metal’ stage (or tent) at the festival, and she has acts from all over the UK. Despite a couple of late cancellations, the final line-up is looking strong and something like this.

20.00 – SPIRYTUS
19.10 – LOCKIN ENGLAND
18.20 – BOYCOTT THE BAPTIST
17.30 – REDMIST DESTRUCTION
16.40 – FALLING FROM PARADISE
15.50 – FLUFFY GREMLINS
15.00 – SUBORBITAL LOBOTOMY
14.10 – THE FALLOUT
13.20 – HAMEREX
12.30 – ANACONDA VICE

I had a few words with Hannah about what to expect.
How did you go about selecting bands?
I initially took applications for acts to play through the Noize Assault facebook page. Around 40 bands sent in applications. I shortlisted bands that I believe to have shown passion for their band and music over the last twelve months and have grafted as a band. I also considerated giving newly formed bands a chance to get on their feet too and have the festival as a platform.
Why you think punters should come and visit your stage? What they’re to expect?
If you like anything on the heavier side, the Noize Assault stage is definitely for you. This year we have everything from the thrash roots of Redmist Destruction, to the groove metal of Spirytus and heavy rock riffs of Lockin. Something from most sub-genres of metal.
Do you have any personal recommendations?
My personal favourites on the line up are Spirytus, Fluffy Gremlins and The Fallout. Spirytus are at the top of their game when it comes to groove metal and are somethingn special in my own opinion. If you’ve seen Fluffy Gremlins before, you’ll understand why we have these lads playing. With an average age of 11, they are without a doubt the most talented young lads I’ve seen in years and they’ll go far in time. The Fallout, I’ve heard a lot about them and not a bad word said. If you like Myles Kennedy style vocals mixed with heavy intrumentation, you know where to be.
