COALFIELDS IS COMING… THE “ALT STAGE”

The annual Coalfield’s festival is getting closer by the day, and despite competition from festivals in Sheffield, Wombwell and Cannon Hall, Coalfields has a hell of a lot to offer this years. This year the festival takes place on Saturday 26th July, at Darton Cricket Fields and is spread over five stage, with each one being managed by a different promoter. In the second in our series of in depth looks at Coalfields, here we check out who is playing the Alt Stage’

I guess it’s named the Alt Stage because it does appear to be an alternative to the others, which cater for fans of indie or metal. Alt Stage is run by members of the band, Black Vines. They ran the successful Audio Picnic Tent at Coalfields 2013. They have a great mix this year, taking in hard rock, punk, alt-rock, soul and funk… and indie. Here’s their final line-up.

21.00- LAUREN TATE & HER BAND
20.00- BLACK ROOSTER BLACK SHAG
19.00- KING BAINS
18.00- TERRI SHALTIEL
17.00- FRANTIC ALICE
16.00- ALLUSONDRUGS
15.00- DANNY SMART
14.00- DEMOGRAPHIC
13.00- DEL SCOTT MILLER & CO.
12.00- BLACK VINES (DJ SET)

Stu Robinson, vocalist and guitarist in Black Vines said, “I’m managing the stage, and Black Vines drummer Matt Smith is our engineer. We have chosen some great bands that we have met over the last year whilst travelling around the UK. The headline act this year is Lauren Tate, whom we played with at an Alternative Barnsley gig back in February this year. Travelling guests come in the guise of Brighton’s ‘Black Rooster Black Shag’, ‘King Bains’ from Derby, Terri Shatial from Leeds and Frantic Alice from Milton Keynes. We want our stage to be a real mix of genres, and look forward to promoting some weird and wonderful sounds.”
