MUSIC NEWS: UNDERNEATH THE STARS 2015 ANNOUNCES ITS FIRST FESTIVAL ACTS

Following on from the success that was the inaugural Underneath the Stars Festival in Cawthorne, Barnsley, the festival organisers have already started announcing the line-up for the next installment, which will take place in July.
An already busy South Yorkshire festival weekend (Tramlines and Coalfields were on the same weekend) didn’t stop over 8,000 music lovers from descending onto the fields around Cannon Hall farm to enjoy three days of great music, good food and drink, stalls and workshops and course, luckily for all involved, absolutely glorious weather.

I was only able to attend the first and last day of the festival, so unfortunately missed out on a jam-packed Saturday. And even though I did have a few reservations (only a half day of music on the first and last day, and not enough stalls), I felt that the atmosphere and the quality of the music that was there was exceptional and the quality of the food, drink and facilities were far superior to any other local festival. It also had the most family-friendly environment I have witnessed to date at a local music festival.
Some questioned the ticket price initially, but that was reflected in the quality and frankly, why shouldn’t Barnsley be up there with the big hitters?
Underneath the Stars is easily a contender for Best Small Festival in the UK, and hopefully will be recognised as such at next years Festival Awards. This is a festival that attracted many thousands of tourists from outside of town, all of which were also able to benefit from major tourist attractions such as Cannon Hall Farm, Cannon Hall Museum and of course, the beautiful Cawthorne Countryside. Underneath the Stars can only improve on the success of last year.

Last week, Underneath the Stars launched their Christmas advent calendar, revealing a festival act each day of the week and will continue to do so throughout December. This year’s line-up already seems to be expanding on last years, with a wide variety of Cajun, Comedy-Pirate, Electro-Swing, Folk and Indie Rock n Roll. Here are your first seven acts…
