It was announced today that Barnsley Youth Choir have won first place in both C8 Jazz & Pop and C9 Gospel & Spiritual categories at the Interkultur European Choir Games in Magdeburg, Germany.
In addition to winning both categories that it entered, the choir was also announced as winners of the GP5 Grand Prix of Nations Category. The choir was only selected to compete in this top-level competition a few days ago, having impressed the artistic judging panel during its other category performances.
This was only the choir’s second major competition. On top of that, the choir has had to raise over £40,000 to fund the trip and only rehearses once a week.
