Cawthorne’s Underneath the Stars Festival has quickly becoming one of the most talked about music festivals in Yorkshire, attracting over 8000 music lovers from around Europe, and this weekend they have just made their first line-up announcements for their 2016 festival.
As well as established Barnsley folk acts KATE RUSBY and GILMORE & ROBERTS, there is VIEUX FARKA TOURE, often referred to as “The Hendrix of the Sahara”, County Sligo’s finest export DERVISH, folk festival favourites THE DEMON BARBERS, Dublin singer-songwriter extraordinaire DECLAN O’ROURKE, the award winning BLAIR DUNLOP, Leeds based ska band KING ZEPHA, winners of the BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award, TALISK and one of my favourite live acts, Curtis Eller’s American Circus. Many, many more acts have also been announced, so visit the official website (link below) for more details and ticket links.
Once again, Kate Rusby will be one of the festival’s headliners. Right now she is putting the finishing touches to studio album #15. As a special one-off for this year’s festival, Rusby will be performing a special set with both the brass boys and the string quartet she records with, a definite must see!
