NEWS: TARN TALENT MAKES REGIONAL FINALS OF NATIONAL TALENT HUNT

Two Tarn musicians have made the regional finals of this years Open Mic UK, the biggest search for unsigned talent. The competition is brought to you by Future Music, the company behind the discovery of artists such as Jacob Banks, Lucy Spraggan and Birdy (also previous Open Mic Uk winner).

The competition is divided into age categories – Under 16, 16-20 and 21 and over, with all participants aiming to make the grand final where they have a chance to win the main prize of £5,000 to spend on the development of their musical careers. The latter stages of the competition will also provide the opportunity to impress guests from the music industry. Previous judges of the competition has included Ras Kwame, DJs Daniel P Carter and Annie Nightingale MBE, Noddy Holder and the late Malcolm McLaren, along with representatives from three major record labels, Sony Music Entertainment, Warner Music Group and Universal Music Group.

Avishek Choudhury, originally from Blackpool but currently studying ay University Campus Barnsley and residing in Barnsley, has made it through to the Regional Finals of the Over 21s category, which will take place at the O2 Academy in Sheffield.
Also successfully reaching the Regional Finals, but his time the 16-20 category, is local singer songwriter Danny Smart, who has recently released his second EP, Moving On. A MASSIVE well done to them both.

The Regional Final of Open Mic UK takes place on Sunday 12th October. Both artists are selling tickets for the event so visit their pages if you’re interested in attending. We’ll let you know how they get on next month.
